Second Chances: Owning the Past and Doing Better

Black and white portrait of Denis Mikhlin with a quote on resilience

Someone from my past came back into my life recently, and she makes me happy.

It didn’t work out between us before. For a long time, it was easy to say it just wasn’t meant to be. The truth is simpler, and harder. I know what I did wrong back then. I know how I treated her, and it wasn’t right.

That’s the part I want to be honest about. Growth doesn’t come from pretending the past didn’t happen. It comes from looking at it straight, owning it, and deciding to be different.

I don’t know how this story ends. Nobody does. But I know who I am now isn’t who I was then. I’m going in with open eyes, a clear head, and respect for her and for what we have now.

Sometimes life gives you a second chance. The worst thing you can do with it is repeat the same mistakes. The best thing you can do is show up better.

Let’s see what happens.
